All About Me

I was born and raised in Kinston, North Carolina. After attending East Carolina University and earning a degree in Psychology, I realized my calling was teaching. I returned to college and began my teaching career. I have been at West Clayton Elementary for 17 years. I have seen so many changes in education through the years. I am so thankful to call WCES home and am honored to teach these students.

I am happily married to my husband and best friend, Tim. We share three beautiful boys ranging in age from 15 years to 27 years old. In our free time, we love to boat and fish. The beach is our favorite getaway.
  • I have enjoyed teaching all of my third, fourth, and fifth graders this year. I have sent home math materials and reading materials with  my students so they can practice this summer. Please have them read for fun and to increase their reading skills. I look forward to next school year where we will reason and grow together!

I will miss my rising sixth graders and I will always be here at WCES if they need me. Best of luck to you all!

  • ACCESS Testing for English Language Learners

North Carolina schools are required to administer ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 to all students identified as English Learners (ELs) in the spring of each year to determine their progress in learning English. Each student is tested in four areas: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. This assessment helps us monitor their English language development.

JCPS Announcements

  • Updated COVID-19 Quarantine Guidance

There have been significant changes to the Strong Schools NC toolkit that affects the quarantine procedures our staff and students must follow if they are exposed to a positive case of COVID-19. Any student or staff member who is currently quarantined due to an exposure of a positive COVID-19 case may return to school or work tomorrow, unless the close contact is a housemate. We are able to make this adjustment because our district requires masks for all students, staff, and guests.
