Mrs. Jennifer Welch

Hello!  My name is Jennifer Welch, and I will be teaching 5th grade ELA and Social Studies this school year.  I have 14 years of teaching experience, and I have my AIG credentials from Johnston County.

My husband, Jason, and I are both from Florida - we met while attending Florida State University (Go Noles!). After graduation we spent some time in central Florida before Jason's work took us to Savannah, GA. We lived in Savannah for five years, and it was an amazing place to live with our young family!  In 2011, his work brought us to Clayton, where we've found a wonderful community of friends and feel at home.  We have two girls, Peyton and Taylor.  Both girls are very active in softball, and you'll find us at a softball field most weekends. Our two black labs, Jeb & Jackson, complete our crew.  Our family loves sports, the outdoors, and the NC mounains are our favorite place to spend time.  When I'm not busy with school or softball, I love hanging out on our back porch with a book and our dogs.

My classroom is my happy place, and I can't imagine spending my day any other way than with young learners. I truly feel blessed to do what I do each day.  I believe the parent-teacher relationship is one of the most important parts of student success, and I can't wait to get to know you and your child.  I look forward to an exciting year with you at Thanksgiving Elementary School!

We wanted to update all of our morning carpool families, as well as our morning walkers. All students will now enter at the main entrance in the very front of the school rather than at the glass hallways. At this time we do not have staff available to monitor the glass hallway entrances, and safety is our first priority. This will begin for all tomorrow, October 5th.

Progress reports went home on Friday. Due to a variety of beginning of the year assessments and review, there were not as many grades listed on these progress reports; you will see more on the report cards.
