Degrees and Certifications:
This year is my 14th year at West Clayton Elementary. I love exploring all types of music! Bring your excitement to class and let's see what we can accomplish together!
4th and 5th Graders will be using a recorder instrument in their remote learning (In-person and Virtual) this year. We have begun instruction with the recorders, so keep them in a safe location. In-person kids, leave them at home for safe, home use only as they are a wind instrument that requires you to blow air thru it. We will work at school holding a pencil to understand the instruction, then you can play your piece at home with your recorder. For those who would like to purchase their own recorder instrument, here are some suggestions.
1. WCES usually purchase the HARMONY Traditional H147B Soprano Recorder; however, a Yamaha 20-Series 3-Piece C-Soprano Recorder has been also used in the past. Both are good quality and come in a variety of colors for you to choose from. There are other recorders available that are ok, but may be slightly more expensive.
2. You can find this item or a comparable Soprano Recorder at the following websites:
These sites are here for your help and convenience. You may also find the instruments at other stores or websites, these are only a starting point and not meant to be the only places they can be purchased.

We are offering a new opportunity for our families this winter break. Parents are invited to sign up to receive holiday meal kits that will be distributed from all of our high school sites. Each meal kit will include seven days of packaged breakfast and lunch meals per child.
Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
There are no upcoming events to display.
