Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Paula Hales

Hello- my name is Paula Hales and I am the band director at ALMS. This will be my 21st year of teaching, but it will be my 4th year here at ALMS. I earned my music education degree from ECU in 1997, my master's in music ed in 2006 from ECU and I achieved National Board Certification in 2007.

I grew up in Nash County and attended Northern Nash High School. After ECU, I lived, for a while, in Jacksonville, NC (97-99), Chesapeake, VA(99-01), Moyock, NC(01-08) and Clayton, NC (08- present).

I am married to Allen Hales and we have 4 children: Alex (20- at App State), Matthew (17), Maddie (17) and Darryn (13).

I am looking forward to working with you this school year and I hope your child will grow to love music as much as I do. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

  • Updated Social Distancing Procedures

Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
