I am so excited to be starting my second year on the Riverwood 8th grade team!  This will be my 11th year teaching and my 7th year in Johnston County.  I am originally from Virginia, but moved to NC to attend NCSU.  I received a bachelor's degree from NCSU, and then pursued a master's degree from UNC-CH.  (I pledge my allegance to NCSU!) I have been married to my wonderful husband, Peter, for over 28 years.  We have two sons, both in the Army.  I teach 8th grade ELA, and I absolutely love it!

I will be available for tutoring or help with make-up work after school until 4:15.  Please let me know in advance if you plan on staying

  • What is happening in Mrs. Bonner's 8th-grade ELA?

Welcome new 8th graders 2019-2020!  I am looking forward to a great year with each of you.

    8th ELA:

Johnston County has adopted a new curriculum this year called My Perspectives. We will be working through that throughout the year.  Also, each week we will study Greek and Latin roots and have a weekly quiz. We will also be working on grammar concepts throughout the year.  We will read several novels and do independent reading, as well.
