Dawn Bonner

This is my second year on the Riverwood 8th grade team, my 11th year teaching and my 7th year in Johnston County!  I am originally from Virginia, but moved to NC to attend NCSU.  I received a bachelor's degree from NCSU, and then pursued a master's degree from UNC-CH.  (I pledge my allegance to NCSU!) I have been married to my wonderful husband, Peter, for over 28 years.  We have two sons, both in the Army and both married to wonderful girls.  I teach 8th grade ELA, and I absolutely love it! I am a new Grandma as of October 2019!

  • What is happening in Mrs. Bonner's 8th-grade ELA?

The Coronavirus has changed our lives extensively.  I miss each of my students tremendously!

We will be posting optional, supplemental work assignments in Google classroom daily or weekly for now.  Please check there regularly.  If you need anything from me, please send me an email or a remind message.

    8th ELA:

Johnston County has adopted a new curriculum this year called My Perspectives. We will be working through that throughout the year.  Also, each week we will study Greek and Latin roots and have a weekly quiz. We will also be working on grammar concepts throughout the year.  We will read several novels and do independent reading, as well.
