Dixon Road Elementary School opened on August 25, 2006, under Principal Candy Williams. While Mrs. Williams was the principal at DRES, she was instrumental in selecting, leading, and working with a wonderful faculty and staff. In July of 2008, Mr. Michael Taylor became the principal at Dixon Road Elementary and continued the great things that Mrs. Williams had set in place.  After only one school year, Mr. Taylor was given the opportunity to return to Smithfield-Selma High School, which is where he felt he was a better fit. Mrs. Dawn Alligood joined the Dixon Road Elementary family as the new principal in July 2009. Mr. Kenneth Bennett became the principal at Dixon Road Elementary in July 2013 until his retirement in 2021. Prior to this assignment, he was the principal at South Campus Middle, Benson Middle, and South Smithfield Primary Schools.

Mrs. Amy Creed continues to lead this great school in its pursuit of academic excellence and student achievement. The faculty and staff have changed some over the years but the spirit and heart have not. Everyone at Dixon Road Elementary School has always had the same ultimate goal.... our students' success.
