Mrs. Ann Tart

Welcome to my school webpage!

I teach beginner violin to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students at the following schools:

Meadow School, Four Oaks Elementary, Benson Elementary, Dixon Road Elementary, McGee's Elementary, South Smithfield Elementary, West Smithfield Elementary, and Selma Elementary.

We meet for one class each week during enhancement time.  At the end of the year, usually in May, we have a small concert to showcase the students and all they have accomplished.

Parents are responsible for purchasing a violin and lesson book for their child.  Some great beginner violins and the lesson book can be found at amazon.com.  I recommend a 3/4 size violin.  Use this link as a guide:  Beginner Violin  This amazon page also has the book and a music stand for an additional cost.

I will let you know when classes begin.  I try to allow two to three weeks for parents to purchase the violin and lesson book, so classes will probably begin mid-September.

  • ACCESS Testing for English Language Learners

North Carolina schools are required to administer ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 to all students identified as English Learners (ELs) in the spring of each year to determine their progress in learning English. Each student is tested in four areas: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. This assessment helps us monitor their English language development.

  • Updated COVID-19 Quarantine Guidance

There have been significant changes to the Strong Schools NC toolkit that affects the quarantine procedures our staff and students must follow if they are exposed to a positive case of COVID-19. Any student or staff member who is currently quarantined due to an exposure of a positive COVID-19 case may return to school or work tomorrow, unless the close contact is a housemate. We are able to make this adjustment because our district requires masks for all students, staff, and guests.

  • Updated COVID-19 Quarantine Guidance

Our district is continuing to follow the guidance and recommendations from the Johnston County Public Health Department, the CDC, and the Strong Schools NC Toolkit, and we will now adhere to a 5 day quarantine period for students or staff members who tests positive for COVID-19. This is a change from the previous 10 day quarantine time.
