Dr. Chris Kennedy

Dr. Chris Kennedy has been an administrator in Johnston County Public Schools for over 10 years. He has previously served as principal of Selma Middle School and South Campus Middle School, and was an assistant principal at Smithfield-Selma High School. Prior to going into administration, Dr. Kennedy taught high school science and was a high school basketball coach and athletic director. He was also an assistant basketball coach at the small college level.

A native of Goldsboro, NC, Dr. Kennedy holds a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a master's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, and a doctorate from Liberty University. He is a published author of sports and education and curriculum articles and has been a presenter of professional development and teacher and administrator training for universities and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Dr. Kennedy and his wife, a Johnston County Public Schools teacher, have been married for over 20 years and have two children. He enjoys travel and following his favorite sports teams, the Carolina Tar Heels and the Chicago Cubs.

Terry Reason

Mrs. Terry Reason joins the CHES family after serving as an assistant principal intern at Four Oaks Middle School. She previously taught first grade at Selma Elementary and Kindergarten at Richlands Elementary in Onslow County. In all she has over 20 years experience in early childhood and elementary education. 

A native of Richlands, NC, Mrs. Reason holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Mount Olive and a master's degree from Western Carolina University. She is the recipient of multiple classroom instructional grants and participated in a study abroad program in Costa Rica. She was the Leading With the Heart nominee for Selma Elementary School in 2016. She has also served as a middle and high school cheerleading coach as well as coaching boys youth soccer and basketball.

Mrs. Reason and her husband reside in Johnston County and she is the proud mother of two sons.
