Welcome to 8th Grade Social Studies! I'm looking forward to a fantastic school year!
This school year will be my thirteenth teaching social studies at Riverwood Middle. Originally from Ohio, I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Adolescent to Young Adult Education in 2008 from Mount Union College (Alliance, Ohio) and my Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2013 from American College of Education (Indianapolis, Indiana). I love history and am excited to share my knowledge of and passion for the subject with my students!

Board of Education Special Session set for March 1
A special called session of Johnston County Board of Education has been called for Monday, March 1, at 3:00 p.m. in the Evander Simpson Building in Smithfield. To comply with the Governorโs Executive Order, only the board members will be allowed in the boardroom. However, the open session portions of the meeting and all announcements will be accessible to the public via livestream.

JCPS Virtual Academy Interest Survey
Now more than ever, we are aware of the many different needs of our students and families. As we begin planning for the 2021-22 school year, we are seeking feedback from parents to gauge interest in establishing a Johnston County Public Schools Virtual Academy, as an alternative to the face-to-face instruction environment for students. We are asking for your input by completing an online interest survey.

JCPS High School Graduation and Prom details
Johnston County Public Schools has developed a detailed plan to mark senior milestones, including prom and graduation, while adhering to guidance from the Johnston County Public Health Department and the CDC in regards to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Pre-K - 5th Grade to return to Plan A on March 1
The Johnston County Board of Education voted to return Pre-K - 5th grade to Plan A, four days per week, beginning on Monday, March. 1.
