Ms. Debra Holmes
Welcome to my 7th Grade English Language Arts Class! This is my 23rd year of teaching--all in Johnston County--and my 8th year at Riverwood Middle. I began my career as a 4th grade teacher but soon found that Middle School was my niche! I taught grades 4-6 at both Selma Elementary and Selma Middle before coming to Riverwood Middle. I was a 6th grade ELA teacher at RMS for 4 years before moving to 7th Grade ELA.
My family includes my daughter, Tori, my step-daughter, Jessica, and my step-son Robert. All three are ECU graduates (Go Pirates!). I live at Lake Gaston with my husband, Todd, and our cat Daisy. When not at school I like to fish, boat around the lake, go to Canes Hockey games and of course, curl up with a great book. Yes, I commute daily to RMS! I was raised in Johnston County, graduated from North Johnston High School, and will always be a JoCo Girl at heart!
Parents and students--please review my website as it contains everything you need to know about my ELA class and I do update it weekly. I look forward to working with all my students and parents to ensure a successful school year!
