Mrs. Debbie Buchanan
Hello! I am looking forward to teaching 6th grade English Language Arts this year at Swift Creek. I am so excited to meet my students. A little about me, I am originally from Missouri where I went to college at Southeast Missouri State University and graduated with a degree in elementary education. I married my husband Brian a few months after I graduated college and moved to Illinois. We lived in Illinois for a little over a year and then my husband was transferred to North Carolina with his job. We have lived in Clayton since 1991. This will be my 28th year of teaching (all in Johnston County). I started out my career in elementary schools and have taught at several schools in the county (Clayton Elementary, Cooper Elementary, East Clayton Elementary, Riverwood Elementary). In 2012, I graduated with a Masters of Education in Reading (K-12) from Meredith College. Five years ago, I decided I needed a change and I began teaching middle school. I taught 7th grade English Language Arts at Riverwood Middle School and transferred to Swift Creek Middle when it opened and taught 6th grade. I have taught 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th grades and student taught 4th grade. I am very excited about teaching 6th grade and I feel so grateful to be a part of Swift Creek Middle School. Go Wolves!!!!!

Attention parents of 4-year-olds: Are you interested in your child attending a free preschool program? The NC PreK program is designed to provide 4-year-old children with positive early learning experiences that support their development and prepare them for Kindergarten.
JCPS high schools will host “modified” traditional graduation ceremonies between Wednesday, July 29, 2020 - Saturday, August 1, 2020. Schools will communicate about specific graduation dates and ceremony times as we get closer to see what restrictions may limit our attendance participation.
