This will be my ninth year teaching in Riverwood Elementary. I've had the privilege of working with amazing children each and every year, all of whom have left an indelible impression on my life. I'm looking forward to the upcoming year!
I was born in Singapore and completed my LLB in Nottingham, UK where I lived for 4 years. I then practiced law in Singapore before moving to the US fourteen years ago, when my husband's job brought him to this part of the world. I began my foray into teaching as a substitute teacher, then as a teaching assistant. Being in the classroom made me realize that teaching special education in particular was my passion; and that what I really wanted to do was to make a difference in the lives of the children who need the most help and support. I completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching in December 2014 at WCU.
I’ve been happily married to my best friend for more than 20 years and have 2 wonderful children, now 19 & 17. My son is now in the Air Force and my daughter is starting her sophomore year of college in UNC Chapel Hill virtually! My furry (and scaly family) extended family consists of 1 1/2 dogs, 2 cats and a bearded dragon.
