Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Jami Barnes. My family and I have lived in Clayton for the past 17 years. I have 3 children, 2 dogs and a horse named Captain! My son Evan left ECU after 2 years to pursue his dream of serving our country as an US Infantrymen and is currently stationed at Fort Bragg. My daughter Riley is a SENIOR ( oh my ) at CHS and has been riding hunter jumper for 10 years now. My youngest daughter Emma will be a junior at CHS and plays on a travel soccer team.
I have been teaching for 17 years, 11 of which have been in the Johnston County School System. Six years ago I left the county briefly to embark on a wonderful opportunity to become a Curriculum Coach as part of a grant for a low performing school in Wilson County. Although it was a truly great experience from which I learned alot, I discovered that I missed the classroom!! I returned to the classroom 3 years ago and could NOT be happier!! Creating a classroom culture for learning and developing relationships with first graders is my true PASSION! I am so thankful for the opportunity to teach at Riverwood Elementary School.
