    Hello Riverwood families!

     

    My name is Amber Smith and I am a Third Grade teacher here at Riverwood Elementary School. Go Rams!

     

    This is my 13th year as an Elementary Reading teacher. I graduated from UNCW and have my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

     

    I live with my husband, son, and daughter here in Clayton. I am looking forward to a brand new year with lots of possibilities!

    2020-2021

    All student supplies will not be shared and will stay in their cubby.

    Supplies will need to be replenished and sent in as needed. 

    Please label all student supplies.

     

     

    Student Supplies:

    1 pencil pouch (no boxes)

    50 sharpened pencils 

    2 boxes of pencil cap erasers

    1 pair pointed Fiskar student scissors

    1 pair of quality earbuds or headphones in a Ziploc bag 

    6 glue sticks

    1 package of Paper Mate pens (assorted colors)

    4 marble composition notebooks (wide ruled)

    3 vinyl folders, 2 pockets (no prongs)

    6 fine tip Expo Dry Erase Markers

    6 chisel tip Expo Dry Erase Markers

    1 small box of crayons

    1 package of multi colored highlighters

    water bottle with pull top or straw that bends and locks  (spill proof) 

     

    Classroom Supplies:

    Boys: Gallon Size Ziploc bag, Girls: latex free bandaids

    Boys: 1 roll of paper towels, Girls: 1 box of Kleenex

    Boys: 1 bottle of liquid hand soap, Girls: 1 bottle of hand sanitizer

    2 or more containers of Clorox wipes

  • Board of Education Special Session set for March 1

    A special called session of Johnston County Board of Education has been called for Monday, March 1, at 3:00 p.m. in the Evander Simpson Building in Smithfield. To comply with the Governor’s Executive Order, only the board members will be allowed in the boardroom. However, the open session portions of the meeting and all announcements will be accessible to the public via livestream.

  • JCPS Virtual Academy Interest Survey

    Now more than ever, we are aware of the many different needs of our students and families. As we begin planning for the 2021-22 school year, we are seeking feedback from parents to gauge interest in establishing a Johnston County Public Schools Virtual Academy, as an alternative to the face-to-face instruction environment for students. We are asking for your input by completing an online interest survey.

    Johnston County Public Schools has developed a detailed plan to mark senior milestones, including prom and graduation, while adhering to guidance from the Johnston County Public Health Department and the CDC in regards to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
