The 2021-2022 school year will be my tenth year teaching Kindergarten and I am so excited about being here at Thanksgiving Elementary! I have a Business degree from UNC Pembroke and obtained my teaching license from East Carolina University in 2012. Before coming to Thanksgiving I taught at River Dell for 9 years and before that I was a teacher assistant at Riverwood for 5 years. I obtained my National Board Certification in 2019.

At a Special Session meeting on Oct. 27, the Johnston County Board of Education approved the following calendar changes: adding two wellness days and an optional teacher work day to the district’s November calendar.
The Johnston County Board of Education called a special session for Wednesday, Oct. 27 to discuss potential calendar adjustments.
Johnston County Public Schools is now offering a Substitute Teacher Temporary Incentive Pay Plan for substitutes.
At their August meeting, the Johnston County Board of Education voted 4-3 to make face coverings required indoors in all Johnston County Public Schools campuses and on all buses for students, staff, and guests. This updated mask requirement is effective immediately.
RDE has 4 vacancies on our Parent Advisory Council. Parent Advisory Members serve a 3-year term and meet quarterly with the principal discussing school policy, procedures, school improvement goals, and other items related to creating a positive relationship between the school and the community and families we serve.
We wanted to update all of our morning carpool families, as well as our morning walkers. All students will now enter at the main entrance in the very front of the school rather than at the glass hallways. At this time we do not have staff available to monitor the glass hallway entrances, and safety is our first priority. This will begin for all tomorrow, October 5th.
