Marlen Simon

My name is Mrs. Simon, and I am a fifth grade math and science teacher at River Dell Elementary School. This is my sixth year as an educator and my fourth year teaching at River Dell. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina. I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. It is my goal to provide your child with a motivating and educationally challenging learning experience in my classroom.

Keeping the lines of communication open with you is very important to me. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. The best way to reach me is via email. You can also send me a private message on our Dojo page. I am available for conferences regarding your child's progress from 8:10-8:25 a.m., during my planning period from 9:15-9:50 a.m., and 4:00 -5:00 p.m. by appointment on school days.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year.

Educationally yours,

Mrs. Simon

  • Updated Social Distancing Procedures

Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.

  • Teacher Workday, Carpool, Voting Site Information

Carpool Reminders:You can use both lanes in our two lane road as you enter our carpool to help balance out the line. We want to make sure we do not have any cars out on Buffalo Rd. Mr. Jewett will be at the top helping to direct traffic and alternating the cars; so if you see one line is longer than the other, you can switch lanes carefully to balance out the lines.

Our cohort 2 students will be coming to school on Thursday, October 8th and Friday, October 9th. For families driving your students to school, our drop-off begins at 8:30am.
