Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Margie Riedel
I am excited to be your child's second grade teacher this year! This is my tenth year teaching second grade at River Dell Elementary, and my 19th year teaching. I previously taught in NJ as a literacy remediation teacher for kindergarten through second grade, and as a first grade classroom teacher for 8 years. I am a graduate of Susquehanna University, a small Liberal Arts college in Selinsgrove, PA. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a Psychology emphasis. Through the years I have had the opportunity to learn from experts in the educational field, including Donald Graves, Bobbi Fisher, Lucy Caulkins, Diane Snowball, and Mem Fox. My goal is help your child be an active learner, inspire your son or daughter to set high expectations for his/her learning, and have a successful, enriching experience in second grade.

Johnston County Public Schools is now offering a Substitute Teacher Temporary Incentive Pay Plan for substitutes.
At their August meeting, the Johnston County Board of Education voted 4-3 to make face coverings required indoors in all Johnston County Public Schools campuses and on all buses for students, staff, and guests. This updated mask requirement is effective immediately.
RDE has 4 vacancies on our Parent Advisory Council. Parent Advisory Members serve a 3-year term and meet quarterly with the principal discussing school policy, procedures, school improvement goals, and other items related to creating a positive relationship between the school and the community and families we serve.
We wanted to update all of our morning carpool families, as well as our morning walkers. All students will now enter at the main entrance in the very front of the school rather than at the glass hallways. At this time we do not have staff available to monitor the glass hallway entrances, and safety is our first priority. This will begin for all tomorrow, October 5th.
We are happy to report that buses and carpool are running more smoothly each day, and we want to say thank you for your patience. Please remember that K-2 car riders will begin to load at 3:50 and 3-5 car riders will begin to load at 4:00. It is very important for the safety of our students that all cars picking up students have an official RDE carpool tag.
