Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to Kindergarten! This year will be my 12th year teaching. Half of my career has been teaching Kindergarten so I am excited to be "back" this year. I have also taught First and Second grade. I launched the first Dual Language Immersion programs in both First and Second grade in the county where I taught before coming to Johnston and teaching at Powhatan Elementary. I am so thankful to be teaching closer to home!
I grew up in a small town outside of Pittsburgh (Go Steelers!) and went to Indiana University of Pennsylvania for college. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Concentration in Reading. Besides cheering on the Steelers, I spend my time at home with my husband Brad, daughter Lillian, and Labradoodle Marley. I love taking walks, going to the beach, and having fun with my family. I am so excited to be your child's teacher and I can not wait for the FANTASTIC year we are going to have together!
We are pleased to inform you that the preschool classroom at Powhatan Elementary School has limited space available for enrollment in the Fee For Service Program for the 19-20 school year. The Fee For Service Preschool Program is designed to provide a high-quality early childhood experience...
At this time, all traditional high school graduations are still planned for May 29. Graduation ceremonies for Johnston County Early College Academy and Johnston County Career and Technical Leadership Academy will now take place on May 16th, rather than the original date of May 15th.
The Johnston County Board of Education will hold a budget work session on Tuesday, April 27. The meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. and be held in the Evander Simpson Building in Smithfield.
