Ms. Mary Catherine Roberts
Mary Catherine Roberts is an artist, a teacher, & North Carolina native. She was raised in Clayton, NC by a creative father and an art teacher mother (Paul & Jane Roberts). They nurtured her artistic instincts from a young age and encouraged her to develop her creative nature. She attended Johnston County Public Schools for her entire grade school career and went on to graduate from East Carolina Uiversity. She was a class of 2009 N.C. Teaching Fellow who graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Elementary Education. In 2010, she added Art Instruction to her licensure & in 2011 transitioned from classroom teacher to art teacher at Powhatan Elementary School.
After school, she spends time in her studio creating art & teaching classes to artists of all ages. She enjoys helping others unleash their inner artist and feel successful in their artistic endeavors. Most of her artwork incorporates several mediums. She loves working with glass mosaics and paint as well as transforming flea market finds into new, exciting pieces of art.

Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
As students in grades K-5 begin returning to school, the curbside locations for free meals will now be located at each middle and high school. The curbside meal locations at our elementary schools will end on Friday, Oct. 2 and will open at the middle and high schools on Monday, Oct. 5.
The Johnston County Board of Education approved a back to school plan at a special called session on Thursday, Sept. 25.
