     Mrs. Parker

Welcome my Virtual Second Grade class!!! My name is Kelly Parker and I am excited to be back in second grade this year.  This fall will be my eighth year at Powhatan. I have taught third grade, second grade and kindergarten at Powhatan but have spent most of my years in second grade!

I attended East Tennessee State University and graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. After graduation, I moved to Florida to be with my husband and started teaching. I taught until I had my son and then stayed home to be with my children for several years, which was such a blessing.

We moved to North Carolina in 2002, and I made my way back into teaching part time for several years and then full time. I have taught or tutored in every grade from Pre-K special education to 5th grade and each grade is special!

I have been married for 27 years and have three children.  I have two sons Greyson who is 23 and Chandler who is 21.  My daughter, Mackenzie is 17 and finishing up high school.  Time goes by so quickly, so enjoy your little ones while you can!  I love animals and have several critters. My three sweet dogs, 3 cats, a bearded dragon,  7 ducks and 20 chickens!

I love the beach and the mountains, so North Carolina is the perfect place for me. I grew up in Tennessee, so mountains are home, but I will go to the beach any chance I get.  I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling and working in my yard with my flowers and my animals.

I look forward getting to know your child and watching them grow and learn throughout the year.  We become a family in my room and I feel very blessed to be a part of your child's life. You will be amazed of how much your child will grow and what they will learn in the upcoming year!
