Welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Kelly Parker and I am excited to be teaching Kindergarten this year. This fall will be my seventh year at Powhatan.
I attended East Tennessee State University and graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. After graduation, I moved to Florida to be with my husband and started teaching. I taught until I had my son and then stayed home to be with my children for several years, which was such a blessing.
We moved to North Carolina in 2002, and I made my way back into teaching part time for several years and then full time. I have taught or tutored in every grade from Pre-K special education to 5th grade and each grade is special!
I have been married for 26 years and have three children. I have two sons that are continuing their education at Barton College. My daughter will be a junior at Corinth Holders High School this fall. Time goes by so quickly, so enjoy your little ones while you can! I love animals and have several critters. My three sweet dogs, 3 cats, a bearded dragon, 8 ducks and 10 chickens!
I love the beach and the mountains, so North Carolina is the perfect place for me. I grew up in Tennessee, so mountains are home, but I will go to the beach any chance I get. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling and working in my yard with my flowers and my animals.
I look forward getting to know your child and watching them grow and learn throughout the year. We become a family in my room and I feel very blessed to be a part of your child's life. You will be amazed of how much your little one will grow and what they have learned in the upcoming year!
