My name is Jackie Hudson, and I am excited about being your child's teacher this year. I have been teaching 1st grade for 21 years - 18 of those years have been here at Meadow School. I am a graduate of UNCW - Go Seahawks! I have been married for 21 years and have 2 daughters - Makenzi who is in 10th grade and Madison who is in 7th grade.
Welcome back to school! I'm looking forward to a great year! Below is a supply list if needed. Please bring in your supplies to open house on Thursday night. You will meet in the cafeteria first for an informational meeting with Mrs. Grice at 5:30. You will come to our class afterwards. See you then!
First Grade Supply List
*2 packs of pencils (12 pack) We recommend #2 yellow pencils because they sharpen better. (no plastic wrapping on the pencil)
*Cap erasers (1 pack)
*1 3 subject spiral bound notebook
*5 1 subject spiral bound notebooks
*2 Boxes of 24 or less crayons
*6 large glue sticks
*1 pair of scissors with stainless steel blades
*2 large boxes of tissues
*2 packs of dry erase markers with eraser on cap (These can be found at Wal Mart)
*1 pair of headphones (headphones work better than earbuds- to be used in class with iPads and chromebooks)
*Change of clothes (This is a must!) Please put clothes in Ziploc bag with your child’s name on the bag.
Please put all of your child’s supplies in a large Ziploc bag with your child’s name on the bag.

8:00-8:30 - Homeroom
8:30-10:50 - Block 1
10:55-11:30 - Lunch
11:35-12:15 - Electives
12:15-1:05 - Block 2
1:05-1:45 - Recess/Snack
1:45-3:15 - Block 2 continued
3:20-3:30 - Prepare for dismissal
Lunch on 12/17 will be chicken nuggets, chicken pastry, or turkey and cheese sandwich. Corn and baked potato, and pinapple tidbits will also be served. Lunch on 12/18 will be tornados, chicken fajita, or cheese bread sticks. Black beans, broccoli and cheese, and apples will also be served.
Our Kindergarten classes will have their Thanksgiving Program in the gym at 1:00 on Friday, November 16th. We hope to see many parents in attendance. Our students and their teachers work very hard preparing for this event. This is always a cute performance. :)
The week of Oct. 21st is Red Ribbon Week, which is a special week celebrated each year during the last full week of October. The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to bring awareness to the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, and to encourage good decisions and healthy lifestyles. Help show your support for awareness to the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs: Tuesday, October 23: Wear Red Thursday, October 25: Put a Cap on Drugs (Wear caps/hats)
