Degrees and Certifications:
Hi! My name is Ms. Lillie. I am thrilled to be your teacher this year. We are going to have a year filled with lots of learning, laughs, and adventures. I cannot wait to learn all about you, but first I am going to tell you a few things about me.
I was born in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee. GO VOLS!! I am one of the middle children. I have two older sisters, Gay and Lara, and a younger brother, Travis. We moved to Garner, NC when I was 6 years old. When I graduated high school, I attended East Carolina University… Go Pirates for three years then finished my degree in Elementary Education at Lenoir - Rhyne College in Hickory, NC. I lived there for 10 years then moved back to Angier in 2005 to be near my wonderful parents, sister, and brother and to begin teaching at MCES. I taught 2nd grade for 2 years then moved to first grade and have been teaching it ever since. This is my 21th year teaching and I HEART FIRST GRADE!!
I have 3 children… well... three adult children really that keep me extremely busy. My oldest Thomas is 22 years old and loves to fish and work on cars. He is Salesperson at Just Tires. My middle daughter is Kayla, 21 years old… and takes online courses for nursing. My youngest is Amanda, 19 years old, attends Appalachain State University studying biological anthropology and loves to babysit, shop and hang out with her friends. We also have a unique dog named Tucker and two cats named Tinker and Gracie. Having older kids has made me a much better teacher. I know exactly where students need to go and what will help them in years to come – both in school and in the real world!!
I am so excited to be your teacher this year and for you to be part of Room 501!!! We are going to have an exciting year!!!
