Ms. Kara Lillie

Hi! My name is Ms. Lillie. I am thrilled to be your teacher this year.  We are going to have a year filled with lots of learning, laughs, and adventures.  I cannot wait to learn all about you, but first I am going to tell you a few things about me.

I was born in Soddy  Daisy, Tennessee. GO VOLS!! I am one of the middle children.  I have two older sisters, Gay and Lara, and a younger brother, Travis.  We moved to Garner, NC when I was 6 years old.  When I graduated high school, I attended East Carolina University… Go Pirates for three years then finished my degree in Elementary Education at Lenoir - Rhyne College in Hickory, NC.  I lived there for 10 years then moved back to Angier in 2005 to begin teaching at MCES. I taught 2nd grade for 2 years in Hickory then moved to first grade and have been teaching it ever since.  This is my 24th year teaching and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE FIRST GRADE!!

I have 3 children… well adult children now and a beautiful granddaughter, Sophia, that has my heart!!   My oldest,Thomas, is 26 years old. He is in business and loves boating and fishing.  My middle daughter is Kayla, 25 years old, and she is Sophia’s mom.  My youngest is Amanda. She is 23 years old and finishing up her last year as a Graduate student at App State. We also have two little adult cats and a dog.  Having older kids has made me a much better teacher.  I know exactly where students need to go and what will help them in years to come – both in school and in the real world!!

I am so excited to be your teacher this year and for you to be part of our Lillie Pad!!! We are going to have an exciting year!!!
