Mrs. Carolyn Brown
Welcome! I am thrilled to be a 4th Grade Science and Math Teacher at MCES. McGee's holds a special place in my heart, as it is the school that my two daughters attended. I have been involved with this school in some capacity almost every year since the second year it was opened. I've been a parent volunteer, PTA Board Member, Usborne book fair hostess, substitute teacher and in 2013 joined the staff as a 4th Grade Teacher. I've spent 2 years teaching 3rd grade and the rest of my time teaching 4th.
My undergraduate education was obtained at UNC Wilmington, where I recieved a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Work. Right out of college I became a Crisis Intervention Counselor and remained at that job until I had my first child. I stayed home with her, had another daughter, and did various jobs based from my home. I took a career path change in 2011 when I graduated from Meredith College with my Masters in the Arts of Teaching degree. It was time to put my love of educating children to work and let my own girls enjoy their remaining time in high school and college.
My husband and I have lived in the McGee's Crossroads area for over 20 years. We love this community and are quite involved with our church. I welcome you to our classroom community and look forward to making many happy memories and reach great educational milestones while we are together.

We are offering a new opportunity for our families this winter break. Parents are invited to sign up to receive holiday meal kits that will be distributed from all of our high school sites. Each meal kit will include seven days of packaged breakfast and lunch meals per child.
Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
