Mrs. Betty Buchanan

     My name is Betty Buchanan and I'm currently teaching 4th grade Literacy and Social Studies.  This is my 18th year teaching.  I'm a native of Johnston County and graduated from South Johnston High School and UNC Chapel Hill.  I live in Benson with my husband Brian, my 2 children, Benjamin and Brianna, and our 2 cats, JJ and Turbo.   This year, I am team teaching with Mrs. Brown.  I will be teaching Literacy (Reading, LA, Writing, Spelling) and Social Studies. Mrs. Brown will be teaching Math and Science. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, playing the piano, and cross-stitching.     The Johnston County Board of Education will hold a special session on Tuesday, Aug. 27. The closed session meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and be held in the Evander Simpson Building in Smithfield.

  • New deadline in JCEF grant process

    The Johnston County Education Foundation has changed its grant process from a three cycle a year process, to a once a year process. The grant deadline will now be November 15th each year and Grant Patrol will be held on the first Wednesday of December.
