Mrs. Betty Buchanan
My name is Betty Buchanan and I'm currently teaching 4th grade Literacy and Social Studies. This is my 19th year teaching. I'm a native of Johnston County and graduated from South Johnston High School and UNC Chapel Hill. I live in Benson with my husband Brian, our 2 children, Benjamin and Brianna, and our 3 cats, JJ, Turbo, and Bella. This year, I am team teaching with Mrs. Brown. I will be teaching Literacy (Reading, LA, Writing, Spelling) and Social Studies. Mrs. Brown will be teaching Math and Science. Pre-K - 5th Grade to return to Plan A on March 1
The Johnston County Board of Education voted to return Pre-K - 5th grade to Plan A, four days per week, beginning on Monday, March. 1.

JCPS transitions to Plan B for all students
The Johnston County Board of Education voted to return all Pre-K and EC-Self Contained students to Plan B, four days per week, beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 19. These students will participate in face-to-face instruction on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with Wednesday serving as a remote learning day. All other students in grades K-12 will remain on Plan C until Monday, Feb. 1.

Second Semester Choice Form
Every JCPS parent was to fill ou the Second Semester Choice form to choose either the Virtual Program OR face-to-face instruction for each of their students by Monday, Nov. 30. If you were unable to fill out the form by Nov. 30 please contact your child's school for assistance. The form was to be filled out for ALL students in grades PreK-12.
