Mrs. Joy Beaston
Hello! Welcome to my English class! My name is Joy Beaston and I teach English classes ranging from English I to English IV and also Creative Writing. I am a proud graduate of NCSU. This is my ninth year at Cleveland High School. Go Rams!
I am married to my wonderful husband, Cliff. I have three children--all married--and two precious grandbabies: Nolan and Presley. You'll probably hear me talk about them from time to time!
I love traveling, reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. I also REALLY love all things English! Yes, even grammar.
I look forward to working with you this semester! I have very high expectations, but we also manage to have a lot of fun.
My assignments and announcements will not be on this site but will instead be on Google Classroom. You will receive a code to join on the first day of class. Parents may also join.
Here is my schedule for 2020-2021

As we approach what we hope is the start of athletics here at Cleveland High School, there is some important information we need to share with students concerning tryouts and practices starting in the month of November.
Every JCPS parent must fill out the Second Semester Choice form to choose either the Virtual Program OR face-to-face instruction for each of their students. The Second Semester Choice form is to be filled out for ALL students in grades PreK-12. If a child is going to participate in face-to-face instruction for the second semester, the parent will be asked to fill out transportation information for the student in the form. A form for each student should be completed by Nov. 30.
Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
