Mrs. Samantha Barnes
Hi! I am so excited to be part of the 2nd grade team at Micro Elementary! I am a product of Johnston County Public Schools. I attended Glendale-Kenly Elementary, North Johnston Middle, and North Johnston High School as a student. I graduated from East Carolina University (Go Pirates!) with a degree in Elementary Education with a K-12 Reading Concentration. I have worked in Johnston County Schools since 2004. I have taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and Physical Education throughout my 13 years as a teacher. I was also a Teacher Assistant for three years before I began teaching. I love working with children, and I cannot wait to work with your child to see what we can achieve this year!
A little bit about my family: My husband, Alan, teaches Physical Education and coaches Boys' Basketball and Boys' Track at Archer Lodge Middle School. We have a 8 year-old son, Jake, and a 1 year-old daughter, Ellie, who keep us busy, too. Jake is in 2nd Grade at Micro this year!
We attend Micro First Baptist Church. We enjoy going to the beach, spending time together, watching and playing sports, and I love shopping.
I look forward to meeting each of you, and working with you this year. Please let me know if I can ever do anything for your child or your family!

2nd Grade Schedule
I will post a daily schedule once we have one set in place.
Students will attend virtually August 17 - September 4. On September 8, our face-to-face Track A students will begin classes in person. On September 11, our face-to-face Track B students will begin classes in person.
Mr. Parrish will be announcing updates and information as we have more details.
Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
As students in grades K-5 begin returning to school, the curbside locations for free meals will now be located at each middle and high school. The curbside meal locations at our elementary schools will end on Friday, Oct. 2 and will open at the middle and high schools on Monday, Oct. 5.
The Johnston County Board of Education approved a back to school plan at a special called session on Thursday, Sept. 25.
Progress Report dates will be shared by individual schools. It is essential to activate PowerSchool Parent Portal in order to review your child’s academic progress, school attendance, and to stay informed...
