Ms. LaMunyon

Welcome to 3rd Grade!

Hi, I’m Ms. LaMunyon!

Teaching is an absolute passion of mine! I am so excited to work with you and your child! It’s going to be a year full of fun, learning, and lots of adventures. I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us!

The first day of school is August 29th, 2022. We will have an opportunity to meet on August 25th (stop in to Room 212 any time between 5 -7pm) during Meet the Teacher Night. Before we meet, I thought you may like to know a little bit about me...

I am a mom of two. My son, Jake, is 22 and my daughter, Lauren, is 20 and they are pretty spectacular! I spend most of my time with my family and friends, but some hobbies that I enjoy are reading, playing games, and making things!

This will be my 9th year teaching and my 6th year at McGee's Elementary! I am especially excited to meet all of my new students and to team-teaching with two of my favorite people. I will teach your student Math, while Mrs. Thomas will teach ELA, and Mrs. McClean will teach Science, Social Studies., and Writing

Prior to becoming a mom, I served in the United States Army for four years. After the military, I decided to stay at home with my children. Once both of my children were in school, I went back to school and became a teacher. I absolutely LOVE teaching! It is my goal to instill a love for learning and reading in my students. We will be focusing on growth mindsets this year. As explained by Carol Dweck, having a growth mindset means that your child will  “believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point.” I want to help your child believe in their own abilities and that, even if something presents a struggle, they realize it isn’t something they simply cannot do, but it is something they cannot do YET and will be a goal that they will eventually accomplish.
