Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to 3rd Grade!
Hi, I’m Ms. LaMunyon!
Teaching is an absolute passion of mine! I am so excited to work with you and your child! It’s going to be a year full of fun, learning, and lots of adventures and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us! The first day of school is August 26th, 2019 and we will have a chance to meet on August 21st (4:30 - 6:30 floating) during Meet the Teacher Night. Before we meet, I thought you may like to know a little bit about me...
I am a mom of two. My son, Jake, is 19 and my daughter, Lauren, is 17 and they are pretty spectacular! I spend most of my time with my family and friends, but some hobbies that I enjoy are reading, playing games, and cooking!
This will be my 6th year teaching and my 3rd year at McGee's Elementary! Prior to becoming a mom, I served in the United States Army for four years. After the military, I decided to stay at home with my children. Once both kids were in school, I went back to school and became a teacher. I absolutely LOVE teaching!
It is my goal to instill a love for learning and reading in my students. We will be focusing on growth mindsets this year. As explained by Carol Dweck, having a growth mindset means that your child will “believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point.” I want to help your child believe in their own abilities and that, even if something presents a struggle, they realize it isn’t something they simply cannot do, but it is something they cannot do YET and will be a goal that they will eventually accomplish.
Enjoy the website - you should be able to find all the information you need here. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. It is so important to keep communication open between us and I would love to talk to you whenever you feel the need. To receive the quickest response, Class DOJO seems to be the best form of communication. You could also email me (email@example.com) or call (919)894-7161 (my planning is from ).
