BA in elementary education with an endorsement in reading and ESL
Mrs. Susan Matthews
I am a kindergarten teacher at CES. I love kindergarten and teaching children to read is my passion. I try to be the type of teacher I would want my own children to have. Learning is fun and even more fun through the eyes of a kindergartener. I set high standards for my students and they never cease to rise to the challenge and blow me away with their capabilities.
I am a wife and mother of five. I have been teaching for eight years. I received my BA from the University of West Florida in Elementary Education with and Reading and ESL endorsement. I am currently tinkering with the idea of going back to school for my Master's Degree. I believe in being a life long learner and a champion of change. As quickly as the technology and world are changing, so are the teaching practices. Every great success began with change and I don't want to be left behind.
In my classroom, we learn through exploration and fun. Learning can be fun for all students if taught properly. If you were to walk into my classroom, you would see students actively engaged in various hands-on activities and centers while others would be reading on a bean bag, or working in a small group of peers. You would also see me actively questioning and creating an environment that is full of risk taking, yet completely safe.
