I am the Physical Education Teacher at Cleveland Elementary. I graduated from Campbell University and I am currently in my 12th year of teaching at Cleveland Elementary. It is important for every parent to help your child to remember to wear tennis shoes to PE everytime. Students in grades K-3 come to me once every 7 school days and grades 4-5 come once every 6 school days, so please check with your child's teacher for their specials schedule.

KID's HEART CHALLENGE
Over the next two weeks, our students will be participating in Kid's Heart Challenge Stations and fundraising money for the American Heart Association! We will be jumping rope, playing basketball, climbing a warrior course, and dancing, as well as learning about our hearts and how to stay healthy. Please go to www.heart.org/kidsheartchallenge to register your student and get started fundraising! Next week, we will have a Heart Health Spirit Week. Kid’s Heart Challenge Spirit Week
February 10-14, 2020
Monday: Sweat it Out Day
(Come to school in sweatpants and sweatshirts to show that you are committed to exercising everyday for at least 60 minutes)
Tuesday: Color Your Plate Day
(Come dressed in your most colorful clothes to show that you will take care of your heart by eating fruits and vegetables.)
Wednesday: Don’t be Wacky, Just Say NO! Day
(Come dressed in wacky tacky, mismatched attire to show your pledge to be tobacco and drug free!)
Thursday: Be a Heart Hero
(Come dressed as a SuperHero to show that you are committed to getting those final fundraising donations to help the American Heart Association.)
Friday: Stars have Heart
(Wear red to show your support for the American Heart Association and others with sick hearts.)
At this time, all traditional high school graduations are still planned for May 29. Graduation ceremonies for Johnston County Early College Academy and Johnston County Career and Technical Leadership Academy will now take place on May 16th, rather than the original date of May 15th.
The Johnston County Board of Education will hold a budget work session on Tuesday, April 27. The meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. and be held in the Evander Simpson Building in Smithfield.
