After school practices (optional) are Tuesdays after school until 4:15. Jazz Band rehearses before school on Tuesdays from 7:00-7:40 and after school on Thursdays from 3:15-4:15.
The Spring Band Concert is Tuesday, May 5 at 7:00pm in the CMS gym. Students should be seated by 6:30 and wear black/white dress clothes.
Band registration for rising 6th graders will be Tuesday, April 21 at 6:30pm in the CMS cafeteria.

After school practices (optional) will be held every Tuesday from 3:15-4:15. Students should be picked up in the staff parking lot on the left side of the school.
Jazz Band will rehearse Tuesday mornings from 7:00-7:40 and Thursday afternoons from 3:15-4:15. For the morning rehearsals, students may only enter the school through the band room door. Students should be dropped off (Tuesdays) and picked up (Thursdays) from the staff parking lot.

Clayton Middle offers band as an elective class that meets during the school day. Sixth grade band performs in two concerts a year. Seventh grade band adds the opportunity to perform with the pep band as well as audition for All-County and All-District bands. Eighth grade band adds community and pep rally performances as well as a trip to Busch Gardens.
Hello! I have been teaching band at CMS since 2005. I am a native of Wayne County, and studied music education at Meredith College. I enjoy teaching students how to read music, play instruments, and become musicians!

At this time, all traditional high school graduations are still planned for May 29. Graduation ceremonies for Johnston County Early College Academy and Johnston County Career and Technical Leadership Academy will now take place on May 16th, rather than the original date of May 15th.
The Johnston County Board of Education will hold a budget work session on Tuesday, April 27. The meeting will begin at 5:00 p.m. and be held in the Evander Simpson Building in Smithfield.
