Heather B. Young
This is my 8th year at Clayton Middle School. I graduated from Mount Olive College with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Music: Voice Concentration. I also graduated from Wayne Community College with an Associate in Applied Science: Medical Assisting. East Carolina University is where I obtained my teaching licensure in Middle Grades English/Language Arts.
I have taught 6th grade at CMS since 2017. Before that, I taught 7th grade at CMS 2013-2017! I have had the honor of leading the Show Choir (Showcase of Stars) since 2014-2015 and look forward to continuing with that this year. I also serve as the Beta Club sponsor. I look forward to expanding and growing the Beta Club this year and working with the students involved. For three years, I was privileged to serve as an Eagle Council sponsor. I love to see students get involved in their school and community and working with these three organizations has allowed me to fulfill that passion in various ways!
I grew up in a tiny corner of Duplin County called Fountaintown, but I have lived in Wayne County for many years. I currently live in Goldsboro with my husband Jason, who works for the technology division of JCPS.
In my “free” time I enjoy playing paintball, reading, and singing with the Praise and Worship team. I am a fan of the Washington Redskins, ECU football, NCSU basketball, Hurricanes hockey, and old school NASCAR. I enjoy Harry Potter, Star Wars, PEANUTS, various video games, classic cars, and spending time with family and friends.
I look forward to working with you this year!
