This is my 8th year at Clayton Middle School. I graduated from Mount Olive College with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Music: Voice Concentration. I also graduated from Wayne Community College with an Associate in Applied Science: Medical Assisting. East Carolina University is where I obtained my teaching licensure in Middle Grades English/Language Arts.
I have taught 6th grade at CMS since 2017. Before that, I taught 7th grade at CMS 2013-2017! I have had the honor of leading the Show Choir (Showcase of Stars) since 2014-2015 and look forward to continuing with that this year. I also serve as the Beta Club sponsor. I look forward to expanding and growing the Beta Club this year and working with the students involved. For three years, I was privileged to serve as an Eagle Council sponsor. I love to see students get involved in their school and community and working with these three organizations has allowed me to fulfill that passion in various ways!
I grew up in a tiny corner of Duplin County called Fountaintown, but I have lived in Wayne County for many years. I currently live in Goldsboro with my husband Jason, who works for the technology division of JCPS.
In my “free” time I enjoy playing paintball, reading, and singing with the Praise and Worship team. I am a fan of the Washington Redskins, ECU football, NCSU basketball, Hurricanes hockey, and old school NASCAR. I enjoy Harry Potter, Star Wars, PEANUTS, various video games, classic cars, and spending time with family and friends.

A special called session of Johnston County Board of Education has been called for Thursday, July 29 at 5:00 p.m. in the Evander Simpson Building in Smithfield. The open session portions of the meeting and all announcements will be accessible to the public via the livestream available online.
The deadline is quickly approaching for Johnston County Public Schools families who need transportation for their students during the 2021-2022 school year. Students who will be attending Early College or Career Technical Leadership Academy, which will begin on August 2nd, have until July 22nd to request transportation. Students who will begin school on August 23rd have until August 2nd to request transportation. This date is for all other JCPS Schools on the traditional school calendar.
While face masks are still required in all of our indoor facilities, students, staff, and guests of our campuses are no longer required to wear a face covering when outdoors. Students and staff may continue to wear masks when participating in recess or outdoor activities if they choose to do so.
The online application for the Johnston County Public Schools Preschool Program is now available. Parents who are interested in the JCPS Preschool Program are encouraged to apply early, as availability is on a first come, first served basis. The application window closes on June 30th.
