Degrees and Certifications:
Heather B. Young
This is my 5th year at Clayton Middle School. I graduated from Mount Olive College with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Music: Voice Concentration. I also graduated from Wayne Community College with an Associate in Applied Science: Medical Assisting. East Carolina University is where I obtained my teaching licensure in Middle Grades English/Language Arts.
I have taught 7th grade at CMS since 2013, but will taking on the sixth grade this year! I have had the honor of leading the Show Choir (Showcase of Stars) for the past three years and look forward to continuing with that this year. This is my second year as Beta Club sponsor. I look forward to expanding and growing the Beta Club this year and working with the students involved. Last year I was privileged to serve as an assistant Eagle Council sponsor and hope to continue in that role again this year. I love to see students get involved in their school and community and working with these three organizations allows me to fulfill that passion!
I grew up in a tiny corner of Duplin County called Fountaintown, but I have lived in Wayne County for many years. I currently live in Goldsboro with my husband Jason, who works for the technology division of JCPS.
In my “free” time I enjoy playing paintball, reading, and singing with the Praise and Worship team. I am a fan of the Washington Redskins, ECU football, NCSU basketball, Hurricanes hockey, and old school NASCAR. I enjoy Harry Potter, Star Wars, PEANUTS, various video games, and spending time with family and friends.
I look forward to working with you this year!
