My husband and I have have three children (ages 16, 35, and 36). I am one of the Speech-Language Pathologists serving students at Polenta Elementary for the 2022-2023 School Year. I worked in private practice for 2 years and this is my 23nd year with Johnston County Public Schools. I worked at Cleveland Elementary for 9 years and this is my 14th year at Polenta. I love being a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist and enjoy working with elementary students of all ages and ability levels.

Monthly Speech/Language Activities for Home Practice

  • August/September:

    Listening: Parent: Say a series of words including words that are foods and words that are not foods. Have your child clap each time he/she hears a word that is a food.

    Speaking: What is another word for plump, afraid, speedy, slim, giggle? See if your child knows. If not, discuss the answers and examples with him/her.

  • Updated School Nutrition Information for 2022-23

    We hope that you and your student have already noticed some of the exciting new food and  meal opportunities we are offering in our cafeterias this school year. Our new options will include more fresh produce, vegetarian options, and opportunities for students to customize their meal choice. These new offerings will be available at both breakfast and lunch.
