I am one of the Speech-Language Patholgists serving students at Polenta Elementary for the 2019-2020 School Year. I worked in private practice for 2 years and this is my 20th year with Johnston County Public Schools. I worked at Cleveland Elementary for 9 years and this is my 11th year at Polenta. I love being a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist and enjoy working with elementary students of all ages and ability levels.
Monthly Speech/Language Activities for Home Practice
Listening Activity: Parent, say a series of words including words that are foods and words that are not foods. Have your child clap each time he/she hears a word that is a food.
Speaking Activity: What is another word for plump, afraid, speedy, slim, giggle? See if your child knows. If not, discuss the answers and examples with him/her.

The Johnston County Education Foundation has changed its grant process from a three cycle a year process, to a once a year process. The grant deadline will now be November 15th each year and Grant Patrol will be held on the first Wednesday of December.
