I am one of the Speech-Language Pathologists serving students at Polenta Elementary for the 2021-2022 School Year. I worked in private practice for 2 years and this is my 22nd year with Johnston County Public Schools. I worked at Cleveland Elementary for 9 years and this is my 13th year at Polenta. I love being a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist and enjoy working with elementary students of all ages and ability levels.

Listening: Parent: Say a series of words including words that are foods and words that are not foods. Have your child clap each time he/she hears a word that is a food.
Speaking: What is another word for plump, afraid, speedy, slim, giggle? See if your child knows. If not, discuss the answers and examples with him/her.

At a Special Session meeting on Oct. 27, the Johnston County Board of Education approved the following calendar changes: adding two wellness days and an optional teacher work day to the district’s November calendar.
At their August meeting, the Johnston County Board of Education voted 4-3 to make face coverings required indoors in all Johnston County Public Schools campuses and on all buses for students, staff, and guests. This updated mask requirement is effective immediately.
