Meet the Teacher
A lifelong resident of North Carolina, I attended North Carolina State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with specialization in Mathematics. I have been in the education field for 12 years, working with Pre-K through 5th grade, with the majority of my career being in 3rd and 4th grades. I am certified by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards, and I hold an AIG certification. I have had extensive training and experience with teaching foundational reading skills as well as cognitive coaching for deeper level thinking. On any given day, my favorite subject could change from Math to Reading to Writing to Science, which is why I am thrilled to teach 4th grade where we get to do it all! Above any particular subject, children are my favorite, and my passion is to see them enjoy life and learning.

Information on social distancing in school settings has been recently updated by the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Upon receiving information from the NCDHHS, we consulted with the Johnston County Public Health Department on the impact these updates will have on our school system. This ongoing collaboration continues to guide our decision-making as students return to classrooms for in-person instruction.
As students in grades K-5 begin returning to school, the curbside locations for free meals will now be located at each middle and high school. The curbside meal locations at our elementary schools will end on Friday, Oct. 2 and will open at the middle and high schools on Monday, Oct. 5.
The Johnston County Board of Education approved a back to school plan at a special called session on Thursday, Sept. 25.
