BA History (Secondary Education) MED in Athletic Administration
Mr. John Asmussen
This will be my 6th year back at Clayton High School after spending 7 years at Clayton High from 2001-2008. I also taught in Georgia for two years and a few other high schools in Johnston County but will always first and foremost be an All In Comet. I recieved my undergraduate degree in History and secondary education at Elon University and my Masters of Education in Athletic Administration from Northcentral University in 2012.
In addition to teaching within the history department at Clayton High I am also the Varsity Men's Soccer Coach and the Athletic Director at Clayton High. My wife Lynette is also an educator who worked for Johnston County Schools in the past but currently works for North Carolina Virtual Public Schools to be able to stay home with our daughter.
I look forward to working with all of you in the spring either in the classroom or athletic fields!!

North Carolina schools are required to administer ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 to all students identified as English Learners (ELs) in the spring of each year to determine their progress in learning English. Each student is tested in four areas: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. This assessment helps us monitor their English language development.
