Miss Janet D. Cooke

I'll give you a moment to get over the shock that I've finally updated my webpage. It's been a little chaotic for me this year. For the first time in 18 years I moved classrooms. The Comet Pride Online and I are now located in Room 608. Looking forward to a year with lots of new things.

Miss Cooke teaches English III, Intro. to Journalism and Newspaper. She advises the school's online student newspaper, The Comet Pride Online and serves as the advisor for the journalism honor society Quill and Scroll.  A veteran teacher, Miss Cooke began teaching at CHS in 1997. She is a past president of the the NC Scholastic Media Advisers Association at the journalism school at UNC-Chapel Hill and served on the advisory board and its task force 2007 - 2018.

Miss Cooke holds a Master of Arts degree in journalism from the University of South Carolina. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and English from Campbell University and an Associate of Science degree from Mount Olive College. For over 15 years prior to teaching at CHS, Miss Cooke was a news director and assistant manager at WCCE-FM and a staff writer and photographer for The Four Oaks and Benson News in Review.
