Ms. Carmen Sierra Pascual
Ms. Sierra is in her eight-year teaching Spanish at Clayton High School and in her twenty-nine year working with student affairs for the State of North Carolina and Puerto Rico.
She is the sponsor of Clayton High School National Spanish Honor Society and Spanish Club for Clayton High School. Ms. Sierra is a member of The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
Previous to teaching Spanish at the high school level, Ms. Sierra taught English as a Second Language for English learners and Spanish Computer Basic for Adults at Johnston Community College.
She is a graduate of La Universidad del Este where she received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Leadership and Management. Ms. Sierra is a recipient of The Public Servant Honor given by the Puerto Rico Senate and House of Representatives. She also was awarded for leadership and community service by the Distinguished Alumni Organization of the Eastern University of Puerto Rico.
Ms. Sierra has lived in the Clayton community since 2008. She is excited to be a part of the Clayton High School family!
The students will use the Learning Management System (LMS) Canvas. Students are able to log in to the course by using the ClassLink App. In this LMS, students can view announcements, receive teacher's feedback, inbox messages, submit online assignments, online textbooks by chapters, daily classes, vocabulary, audio practice pronunciation, etc.

At a Special Session meeting on Oct. 27, the Johnston County Board of Education approved the following calendar changes: adding two wellness days and an optional teacher work day to the district’s November calendar.

Johnston County Public Schools is now offering a Substitute Teacher Temporary Incentive Pay Plan for substitutes.
At their August meeting, the Johnston County Board of Education voted 4-3 to make face coverings required indoors in all Johnston County Public Schools campuses and on all buses for students, staff, and guests. This updated mask requirement is effective immediately.
