Ms. Niena Varney

I am a transplanted yankee blooming in Benson.  I have decided that who you are is not always where you come from.  I was born in Maine and moved to Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station in Havelock, NC in 1995. From there we moved to North Raleigh.  We didn't like the traffic and the 3 square feet of grass we had to play on so we began our migration to the country.  We lived in Meadow from 1999 to 2013 when we moved to Benson.   We have lived, worked, played and ate in Benson since and I have loved every minute of it.

I received my GED with honors in 2010 from JCC.  I had the 3rd highest score in the state for that year.  I am proud to own that recognition.  I graduated high honors from JCC with my Associates in Arts in 2011.  My crowning moment is that I am a 2014 graduate of East Carolina University with certification areas in Language Arts, Science and Social Studies.

I have 4 sons and 2 step sons ranging in age from 15 to 25.  They build a beautiful and chaotic life for me and I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love my dog, Patriot Football, reading Young Adult Fiction novels and Big Brother!

  • Hey Everyone!  I hope you all have a great summer!  I look forward to all the great things that will be happening at Benson Middle School next year!  See you in August!
