Mrs. Karanette Corey

I am currently entering my sixth year of teaching here at Benson Middle school and my thirteenth year as an educator. I am from a small tight knit community in Eastern North Carolina, called Kinston.  Some may know it as a "basketball town."  I attended and graduated from East Carolina University and I'm a proud Pirate.  In the last six years my family and I have made Johnston County our home.  I have an awesome husband and four wonderful sons that keep me busy.  I currently work as a multi-subject intervention teacher here at Benson Middle.  I am excited for another year here at Benson Middle and the opportunity to lead Pins and Needles Sewing Club, mentor through Ladies of Pearls and serve my students and parents of this community.

The year has gotten off to a great start!! There are smiles and all over our building, from teachers and students.  We're coming into our second week of school and assignments are flying, sports practicies are happeneing and we're about to have the first dance of the year.  Although things look great for us here at Benson Middle there are children in other parts of our country going through a devastating experience.  In an effort to support those students and families Ladies of Pearls will be collecting donations of toiletires (toothpaste, toothbrushes, wipes, soap, shampoo, etc.) to send to these famiies as they recover.  Please take time to put yourself in their shoes and do what you can to support this effort.

Keep your eye out for more to come from Corey's Corner of the World!
