Welcome to Swift Creek Middle School, and welcome to my class! I am a Johnston County native, and I graduated from Meredith College. I taught in Wake County for ten years, and this is my second year teaching in Johnston County. When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with my family and going to the beach. I look forward to working with you this year!

Greek Roots Quiz- Every Wednesday
- Students will have a Greek Roots Quiz every Wednesday.
- Students receive a new list every Wednesday and the lists are also posted in our Google Classroom.
- The quiz will have a section where students match the Greek Root with its definition, and it will have an application section where students use context clues to determine the best word to complete the sentence.
- Students need to study a little (5-10 minutes) each day to prepare for these quizzes.

ACCESS testing for English Language Learners
North Carolina schools are required to administer ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 to all students identified as English Learners (ELs) in the spring of each year to determine their progress in learning English. Each student is tested in four areas: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. This assessment helps us monitor their English language development.

Updated School Nutrition Information for 2022-23
We hope that you and your student have already noticed some of the exciting new food and meal opportunities we are offering in our cafeterias this school year. Our new options will include more fresh produce, vegetarian options, and opportunities for students to customize their meal choice. These new offerings will be available at both breakfast and lunch.
