BS in Intercultural Youth Ministry

Mr. Guest

Welcome Spartans! My name is Derek Guest and I am thrilled to teach you history here at Smithfied-Selma High School. I am new to the Spartan family but began teaching in 2018. Before that, I was a youth pastor for 4 years here in North Carolina. My wife, Alissa, teaches Math in Johnston County, and we have two children. I am originally from Flint, Michigan (Go Blue!), attended Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pa, and moved to North Carolina in 2014. I am currently working on getting my Masters in History from ECU. I am passionate about learning/teaching history in a way that develops a greater understanding of multiple cultures, viewpoints, and ideologies while creating better global citizens. I am looking forward to a great year!
