Mr. Jonathan M Anderson

Thank you for taking the time to view my webpage. The following is some information about myself and my class.

I was born and raised in Houston, TX. After finishing college in Atlanta, GA, I moved to North Carolina. I'm married to my beautiful wife, Kinetta. We have two kids, Jonathan Jr. and Sarah. This is my 6th year of teaching and my first year at Smithfield-Selma. Also, I've been an ordained minister since 2009.

My purpose for teaching: Teaching is a part of who I am. I love the opportunity to have a positive influence on young people through teaching. Education is a very noble profession because of the impact that is made in the lives of students. Through teaching, I hope to inspire students to make the best choices for themselves, to believe in themselves, and to become positive contributing citizens in U.S. and global society.

Activities/Hobbies: Traveling, bowling, movies, eating, and Monopoly

Favorite food: Seafood, Gumbo, Fried Chicken, Shipley's Donuts, and Blue Bell Ice Cream

Vision for my classes:

  • Learning civic responsibility through analyzing the roles of government and citizens.
  • Interpreting historical events/contexts and landmark documents through source analysis.
  • Vitalizing strong arguments through debate, discussion, and essays.
  • Encouraging democratic (not political party) behaviors through collaboration and simulations.
