Mrs. Tonya Painter

Hello, I am Tonya Painter, and I am thrilled to be teaching fourth-grade math and science this year! Here is a little information about me. I was born and raised in North Carolina. My first fifteen years were spent in Garner.  Then, as a rising high-school junior, I moved to Clayton, where I met my high school sweetheart. I graduated from Clayton High School in 1997 and studied elementary education at East Carolina University. In 2001, I was the first in my family to earn a college degree. I was very proud to graduate Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree.  I have been a Johnston County Public Schools teacher for 20-plus years. I decided I wanted to be a teacher while in my kindergarten class at Garner Elementary School, taught by Mrs. Hunt. Just something about what went on in that classroom drew me to education!  I have had many life experiences that have taught me the importance of education. I have always loved learning and inspiring others to learn. In 2001, as a fourth-grade teacher, I began my teaching career at Four Oaks Elementary School. I earned my National Board Certification in 2007. I am currently working towards a Master's of School Administration degree. I am married to my Clayton High School sweetheart, and we have a sixteen-year-old son. I like to travel, attend concerts, read, and solve crossword puzzles in my spare time. My family and I have a goal to visit all of the National Parks. We have seen 11 so far.
