Updates and information are shared there on a regular basis and it is a quick way for me to communicate information to parents!

 

**Your first grader can work on LEXIA and PRODIGY (Twenty minutes each a day is sufficient). 

 

Reading 

Read any story and also any story in your first grader's my Book.  We have sent home my Books 1-3 already. 

Discuss beginning, middle and end as well as characters, problem and solution of stories read. Discuss the main idea of the story to include the details that support that main idea.

There are also activities following stories in their myBooks that can be completed.

Read and record on those reading logs! They still count! 

 

Writing 

Write about your experiences at home. Make sure sentences begin with a capital letter, has a noun and verb, has ending punctuation and makes sense! Each writing should include an introduction sentence, three sentences about your topic, and a conclusion sentence. You may write on regular notebook paper. Don’t forget illustrations to go with your writing!

Practicing adding and subtracting within 20. Make flash cards out of index cards. 

Practice counting by 5s, 10s, 2s. 

Write your numbers 1-150.

Hi my name is Rebecca Quinn; this is my fifth year at Benson Elementary!  I have taught 2nd and 1st grade and look forward to another fun year in 1st! I graduated from Campbell University and received my teaching licensure in 2013.  I have served in the Army and North Carolina National Guard for 20 years.  My husband is also in the North Carolina National Guard and we have three children. I enjoy working at BES and am thankful to be part of this great school and community!

  • Graduation Ceremony Information

    At this time, all traditional high school graduations are still planned for May 29. Graduation ceremonies for Johnston County Early College Academy and Johnston County Career and Technical Leadership Academy will now take place on May 16th, rather than the original date of May 15th.
