• APRIL 5th, 2022

Good afternoon, Lynx Community.  This is your Principal, Mrs. Johnson, with reminders.

It is imperative that you take action by April 29th to declare your intent to return to JCVA for the 22-23 school year.  After that date, you will be automatically reassigned to your base brick and mortar school.  We have shared the link on our website, social media outlets, and all of our Google Classrooms for your convenience.

Remember that tonight, for parents of current 8th-11th graders, we will host an advising meeting that will include crucial information that you need to know, regardless of whether you are staying with us or returning to your base school.

9th-12th graders, come see us at Wildflower Artistry at 117 S. Railroad Street in Benson between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm tomorrow, Wednesday, April 6th to purchase your prom tickets.  The cost is $50 per ticket, and if paying in cash, please bring exact change.

Thank you as always for your continued support, and have a wonderful evening.

As a reminder, you MUST take action in Scribbles by April 29th. Any current student for whom we do not have an application for by that date will be automatically reassigned to their base brick and mortar school.

Students grades 9-12, if you wish to purchase prom tickets, you may do so at JCVA HQ, 425 South Collier St. in Smithfield tomorrow, Monday, April 4th anytime between 9am and 4pm or Wednesday, April 6th at Wildflower Artistry, 117 South Railroad St, Benson between 10am and 2pm.

    APRIL 1, 2022

Good evening, Lynx Community.  This is your Principal, Mrs. Johnson, with information.

We understand that there have been some technical barriers for some of you when you attempt to declare your intent for the 22-23 school year.  In response, we have added a video tutorial to our website to help you.  Please note that all intentions must be declared no later than Friday, April 29th. If you do not click "yes" or "no" OR complete a new application by that date, you will be automatically reassigned to your base brick and mortar school for the 22-23 school year.  If you do not wish for that to happen, PLEASE take action before April 29th.

On Tuesday, April 5th at 6:00, we will host a parent meeting via Google Meet to discuss high school advising.  This is for 8th-11th grade parents and students, and we will record it to post in the 9-12 Google Classroom for anyone who is unable to attend.  The Meet code is meet.google.com/vqb-dbwi-jft.  Regardless of whether your student is returning to their brick and mortar school or staying enrolled at JCVA, each one of them will take part in this process, as their course requests will transfer.

As we prepare final details to share with you about EOG, EOC, and CTE testing, please be reminded that participation in these tests is required.  Attached to the email version of this message is a memo that speaks to potential implications for non-participation as well as action you may choose to take to pursue exemption.  For middle and high school students, study resources are available to you in your Lead Learner Google Classroom.

We are excited to announce that our first-ever yearbook has been submitted for publication and should arrive for distribution during testing in May!  We are also excited to share that the option to attend to prom on April 28th will be open to all students grades 9-12.  Early next week, we will push out details for when and where you can purchase your prom tickets!

Thank you as always for your continued support, and have a wonderful evening and weekend.

    MARCH 18, 2022

Good evening, Lynx Community.  This is your Principal, Mrs. Johnson, with information.

As referenced in the ConnectEd on March 11th, students about whom we have concerns will if they have not already receive a letter stating the criteria for ensuring continued enrollment at JCVA.  Please take the requested action within the communicated timeframe if applicable.  We are here to support you, so please contact your assigned counselor and/or case manager if you need help.

Please plan to join us at Howell Woods, 6601 Devils Racetrack Road, Four Oaks, tomorrow, Wednesday, March 16th, anytime between 12:30-3:30.  As a reminder to 11th and 12th graders, please bring exact change for your prom ticket or tickets.  The cost is $50/ticket. We will also have mClass and MAP assessment data available.

Please go to this link to login to your Scribbles account:  https://www.johnston.k12.nc.us/site/Default.aspx?PageID=12424

If you do not remember your login information, you can click on reset password to retrieve it.  If you do not yet have a login, create one, as this is the platform that we utilize to accept enrollment applications.  Current families will soon see the option to click "yes" or "no" when asked if you are interested in renewing your enrollment at JCVA for the 22-23 school year.  We are asking every family to make a selection as soon as you see this option, so we know how many open slots to anticipate for new applicants.

As a reminder, EOG, EOC, and CTE exams will be administered starting May 19th for grades 3-8 and May 26th for grades 9-12.  We are finalizing those details to communicate to you all very soon.  Participation in state testing is required.

    MARCH 11:

Good evening, Lynx Community.  This is your Principal, Mrs. Johnson, with information.

Students currently enrolled in the JCVA will soon receive a message in your Scribbles dashboard asking you to let us know if you intend to seek renewal of your enrollment for the 22-23 school year.  Please take action on this as soon as possible once it is visible to you.

Keep in mind that students have to be in good academic standing per the criteria set forth in our handbook, which can be found on our website.  Some of our students will receive at-risk letters if this is a concern.  There is still time to ensure your eligibility this spring by the deadline of 5/18, so we urge you to take the necessary action to do so.  If you receive a letter, please understand this does not mean that you will not be able to return next school year;  it simply means you have action to take to ensure that.

We hope to see many of you at our next face to face meetup opportunity on Wednesday, March 16th at Howell Woods, 6601 Devils Racetrack Road in Four Oaks anytime between 12:30-3:30.  11th and 12th graders can purchase prom tickets at this event, and there are several activities to engage in there.  Bring your lunch or a snack to enjoy in the picnic area.  This event will take the place of our weekly Google Meets next week.

Be sure to order your yearbook by the deadline of March 21st to ensure that you have this special memento commemorating our first year of operation at JCVA.

The flyer with how to order is in all of the Google Classrooms.

We are still accepting pictures to utilize in our yearbook, so please send them to me at kelleyjohnson@johnston.k12.nc.us.

We are finalizing the details of our EOC, EOG, and CTE testing plan, and that information will come from our testing coordinator, Jeannie Maready, very soon.  The testing window for students grades 3-8 will begin on May 19th, and the testing window for students grades 9-12 will begin on May 26th.  Keep in mind that participation in your assigned testing session is required.

Thank you for your continued support, and have a wonderful evening and
    weekend.

We anticipate that our 22-23 JCVA application will go live on Friday, February 25th.  We are hosting live information sessions throughout the day on Friday, March 4th and invite anyone who is interested to attend.  Prospective students and parents often find value from the perspective of current students and parents, so reach out to me by email if you wish to share your successes in this capacity.

Remember to check your email daily, join us for our weekly grade-band Google Meets, and keep working to earn the best grades you can to ensure your eligibility to remain enrolled in the JCVA for the 22-23 school year!

Thank you as always for your continued support, and have a wonderful evening.
