I am happily married to my wonderful husband, Dusty, for 5 years. We have a sweet maltipoo, Tucker. We have 1 daughter, Emalyn Kate,  who is 1 1/2.  I have been teaching in Johnston County for 9 years; this year is my 10th year. I have taught at Benson Elementary 6 years, 1 year in 2nd grade, 4 years in kindergarten and 1 year in 1st grade. This is my 3rd year at McGees Elementary. My first year I taught Kindergarten, 2 years teaching 3rd Grade and this year I have come back to Kindergarten for my 4th year at McGees.  I love Kindergarten and enjoy working with sweet Kinder babies.  I am excited and honored to get to share in your child's Kindergarten year. I love teaching with my whole heart; it is my passion to see students learn new things and show amazing growth each year. I hope to help all of my students make wonderful memories and develop a deep love of learning. • Updated COVID-19 Quarantine Guidance

There have been significant changes to the Strong Schools NC toolkit that affects the quarantine procedures our staff and students must follow if they are exposed to a positive case of COVID-19. Any student or staff member who is currently quarantined due to an exposure of a positive COVID-19 case may return to school or work tomorrow, unless the close contact is a housemate. We are able to make this adjustment because our district requires masks for all students, staff, and guests.

  • ACCESS testing for English Language Learners

North Carolina schools are required to administer ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 to all students identified as English Learners (ELs) in the spring of each year to determine their progress in learning English. Each student is tested in four areas: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. This assessment helps us monitor their English language development.
