Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Kristine Gear

My name is Kristine Gear and I am excited to be joining Innovation as a First-Year Pioneer teaching English Language Arts to our First-Year Pioneers. I love reading because it provides us with mirrors of our own experiences and windows into understanding the experiences of others (Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop). The most important part of reading is finding a book that you love and enjoy so that you will read at least 20 minutes a day. This is my 10th year teaching and I have taught ELA and Social Studies grades 5-8. I am originally from Houston, Texas, and moved to North Carolina four years ago with my husband. We have a son, Brooks (2), and two dogs (Rio and Osa). I graduated from Baylor University - sic 'em bears- and I am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University. In my free time, I love to read (surprise!), bake, and spend time outdoors.
