I am thrilled to continue to be a part of the Riverwood Middle School Family this school year. I have enjoyed every single year that I have taught and know this year will be a great one!

My Background:

I have taught all grade levels. I have extensive experience in teaching reading, as well as all areas of ELA. I have some experience teaching students math as well. I studied Exceptional Children's Education while earning a master's degree at Buffalo State College. My passion for learning how to best help all students led me to complete my National Board for Professional Teacher Certification in Exceptional Needs - Birth through Young Adult in 2008 and to renew in 2018.

I studied counseling at ECU while earning an additional master's degree.  I am a licensed school, mental health and substance abuse counselor in the state of North Carolina. While working in the mental health field, I focused on children, teens and families.

When I am not teaching I enjoy:

Spending time with family, friends, and my pet dog

Going on long walks or bicycle rides, especially in Fall and Spring

Baking and giving the goodies to others 

Traveling and learning about other cultures

Learning new things and meeting new people

Students, I will be on the move this year helping in all halls, but may be in the sixth grade hall the most. My classroom is 701.
