Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Caldarera

I am thrilled to join the Riverwood Middle School Family this school year. Although I am new to Riverwood, I am not new to teaching. I am beginning my 28th year! I have enjoyed every single year and know this year will be a great one!

My Background:

I have taught all grade levels. I have extensive experience in teaching reading, as well as all areas of ELA. I have experience teaching students math as well. I studied Exceptional Children Education while earning a master's degree at Buffalo State College. My passion for learning how to best help all students led me to complete my National Board for Professional Teacher Certification in Exceptional Needs - Birth through Young Adult in 2008 and to renew in 2018.

I studied counseling at ECU while earning an additional master's degree.  I am a licensed school, mental health and substance abuse counselor in the state of North Carolina. While working in the mental health field I focused on children, teens and families.

When I am not teaching I enjoy:

Spending time with family, friends, and my pet dog

Going on long walks or bicycle rides, especially in Fall and Spring

Baking and giving the goodies to others

Traveling and learning about other cultures

Learning new things and meeting new people

Students, you will find me during the school day as follows:

7:30-8:05 Cafeteria

8:05-9:46  ELA 7th GR with Ms. White Room 707

9:49-11:53 ELA 6th GR with Mrs. Samuels Room 615

2:03-3:05 ELA 8th GR with Ms. Pruett Room 823

During other times I may have meetings, or I may be teaching in my classroom (Mobile 2)

I look forward to helping and serving my new Riverwood Middle School Family.
