Degrees and Certifications:

K-6 Certified Undergraduate - UNCW Graduate - NC State National Board Certified

Tracy Tant

A little bit about me - I grew up in Clayton. I currently live in Archer Lodge with my husband, Frankie, and we have two daughters, Sydney and Paris.  When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my grand daughter, Billie Anne. My 30 year teaching career has been spent in Clayton area schools. I taught 5th grade math and science for many years before coming to middle school to teach 6th grade science. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from UNCW. I also obtained a Master's degree in Counselor Education from NC State. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I have also worked as an elementary school counselor. Other certifications: AIG; National Board Certified Teacher (1998 - 2018; I chose not to renew that certification after 2018).

Science Assignments will be posted in Google Classroom daily or weekly. Anytime students are absent, especially for extended periods of time, they should go to Google Classroom to see assignments that they have to make up. They should complete the assignments in Google Classroom and submit them through Google Classroom so I know that the work was made up. Sometimes, there will also be assignments on paper that students will have to make up upon returning to the classroom - not just electronic assignments. I will communicate this to students when the situations arise.  Of course, if a student is out for only one day or so, they can still get their missed assignments directly from me when they return to class the next day. If you know your child is going to be out for an extended period of time, please make contact with all of their teachers telling them the dates that your child will be absent from school.

All grades in Science will be posted in PowerSchool. I do not post grades in Google Classroom. It is a good idea to check your child’s PowerSchool account often throughout the week to stay abreast of current grades.  If you download the app on your phone, you can receive notifications each time a teacher inputs grades. This is a good way to stay on top of your child’s performance in all classes at all times.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
