Mr. Geoffrey Hightower

I am excited to be returning to the SSS community this year! My name is Mr. Geoffrey Hightower and I am entering into my 7th year of teaching. I quite accidently fell into teaching, but I love my job. I love talking about science every day and, most importantly, I feel my work is a purpose and NOT a job!

After graduating from Berry College with a B.S. in Biology minors in Chemistry and Psychology, I received a job working in the biotechnology industry in RTP, NC. I worked there for almost 4 years where I got disillusioned with the corporate structure! So, I joined the US Peace Corps! I sold my house, furniture, car and everything I owned and moved to the Philippines. I lived there for nearly 7 years were I worked as an education volunteer and international teacher. I loved nearly every day of my Peace Corps service, but most importantly, I became an educator. After my service, I returned to the US to get my masters degree in teaching along with my teaching license. I worked 3 more years overseas in the international school system (in the Philippines). Now I have come home to be close to family! I look forward to a great experience at SSS and can't wait to have fun learning!
