Mrs. Melissa Borkowski
I am originally from the Pittsburgh area and moved to North Carolina in 1995 to start my teaching career. I earned my teaching degree at Grove City College in Grove City, PA. My first 21 years of teaching were in elementary grades, the last 7 years have been at ALMS teaching 6th grade Science. I have two children; my son is 24 and has a double degree in criminal justice and forensic Science. My daughter is 18 and is a freshman at UNCW.
My favorite things are traveling, the beach, reading, spending time with family, starbucks, chocolate and of course teaching!
North Carolina schools are required to administer ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 to all students identified as English Learners (ELs) in the spring of each year to determine their progress in learning English. Each student is tested in four areas: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. This assessment helps us monitor their English language development.
The Johnston County Board of Education is now accepting applications for the Johnston County Community College Board of Trustee position. The deadline to apply for the vacancy is Friday, February 17, 2023.
